Fostering Innovation should be a key objective of the CAP

Résumé

While EU gets back down to work on CAP, in order to define the major post 2020 improvements, this position paper discusses the main challenges CAP reform has to deal with and presents a general framework with innovation as a key lever in order to better achieve the economic, environmental and social goals of this policy. After establishing three issues as being essential for European agriculture and the whole society: the climate change, the global food security and the ‘One health’ challenge, five priorities are derived for the CAP reform. Then the crutial role of innovation is highlighted including in CAP tools.
