Parity and time-reversal breaking effects detected by resonant x-ray scattering
Résumé
Recent experiments of x-ray spectroscopy have clearly shown that it is possible to get microscopic information on magnetic parity-breaking multipoles through these techniques. The aim of the present paper is to highlight some theoretical aspects related to the resonant x-ray scattering and analyze the main features of the signal in GaFeO 3 through quantitative numerical calculations. Our results show that none of toroidal moments and octupoles as well as magnetic quadrupoles are negligible and that the signal depends on many specific crystallographic features of the system.
